She is a contact lens tech, which allows her to work on a lot of TV and Film sets. She is currently a Wig Maker at the esteemed Legacy Effects studio.

Just some of her credits include: "The Mandelorian", John Travolta's Wig as Santa for Capital One, "Avatar", "The Revenant", "The Avengers" series, "Planet of the Apes", "How the Grinch Stole Christmas", "Pirates of the Caribbean", just to name a few!

Behind the Biz: Barbara Bears

Barbara Bears is a Ballet Master at the Houston Ballet. Ms. Bears joined Houston Ballet as a corps member in 1988 and that same season was selected by Sir Kenneth MacMillan to dance the lead in his ballet Gloria. Ms. Bears was promoted to a principal dancer in 1995 and after 20 years with the Houston Ballet retired in 2009.

 

She is the winner of the silver medal at the 1991 International Ballet Competition. Ms. Bears’ classical repertoire included the leading roles in Swan Lake, Giselle, The Sleeping Beauty, Romeo and Juliet, The Merry Widow, Manon, Onegin, and Madame Butterfly.

In 2001, Ms. Bears was honored to be featured on the cover of both Dance Magazine and Pointe Magazine. Following her retirement, Ms. Bears began teaching and has since then been coaching for Houston Ballet Academy, Houston Ballet II and Houston Ballet. In 2016, Ms. Bears joined the artistic staff of Houston Ballet as ballet master.

Behind the Biz: Richard Krammes

Behind the Biz is excited to welcome Richard Krammes to the show!! Originally from the East Coast, he has trained, worked, and traveled across the country, finally settling in Colorado.  Creating and educating are his strengths that he brings to all projects , productions , and classrooms to motivate , enlighten , and inspire.

 

His experience includes over 30 years of work, 10 years with Denver Center for the Performing Arts, Galleria Theatre, Denver Center Theatre Company, National Theatre Conservatory, 2 years with Arvada Center for the Art , and a season with the Colorado Shakespeare Fest . From 2008 - 2018 he was an educator /artist for Aquage /Salon Quest, traveling nationally to trade shows and conventions demonstrating product , styling, cutting techniques. In 2007 he was awarded Educator of the year by the Rocky Mountain Beauty Industry.

Chris spent nearly 8 years as a Stage Manager with Cirque du Soleil’s Zumanity, KOOZA, “O”, and KÀ. Also an AEA Stage Manager, he has experience with New Works, Pre-Broadway, and Regional Theater productions.

Now as a Producer for Live Events, Chris travels the world planning multi-million dollar stage shows, immersive dinner experiences, studio broadcasts, drone shows, fireworks, celebrity performances, fashion shows, executive product launches, and A-List entertainment acts.

Chris is responsible for top-to-bottom show creation, concept design & execution, budget management, overall production oversight, executive rehearsals, speaker coaching, scripting & content development, booking entertainment acts, and sourcing keynote speakers. His passion lies in turning moments into memories, from something you see to something you feel.

M.A.C. SENIOR GLOBAL ARTIST FATIMA THOMAS is a Southerner by way of the Midwest. She now lives and works in Harlem, where she spends her time hanging out with her friends, her two cats and dancing to house music. Now, Fatima is 23 years into her career with MAC and still a woman of many creative hats. Her role allows her to flex many of her skills – working with celebrity clients, educating colleagues and clients, and even writing and editing – and she’s amazing at them all. A range of interests inform her practice. Pavy began his career in the beauty industry 20 years ago . Growing up he was always mesmerized by the beautiful models in fashion magazines and the hair and makeup transformations peeked his curiosity for the fashion industry .While at the cosmetics counter he quickly elevated to an national artistry position and traveled in the United states and abroad.

He has had work published in numerous fashion publications . The past 10 years he has transitioned into tv and film and is a journeyman hairstylist . Most notably he won an Emmy for his work on "Westworld ".

Behind the Biz: Kelsey Contois-Husch

Kelsey has had a passion for the arts and theatre since childhood. After graduating high school, she was accepted into the prestigious University of North Carolina School of the Arts in the Design and Production: Wig and Makeup Design Program where she graduated in 2008. Kelsey's professional career began before graduation when she got hired as the Wig and Makeup Designer for operas such as The Devil and Kate for Fletcher Opera Company and Die Fledermaus for Opera Carolina. With the experience of large production shows in late of 2008, Kelsey was offered a position as a Wig Technician for Cirque du Soleil’s show KÀ at the MGM Grand Hotel in Las Vegas. After 9 months, in her role as a wig technician she transferred to the show's Makeup Technician/Supervisor. Which includes supervising and ensuring over 135 various makeup designs are flawless to appear on stage 10 shows a week. Airbrushing tattoo's and makeup changes for transitions, creating makeup charts for new artists, teaching each performer how to apply their own makeup efficiently and correctly, many in which English is not their first language. With over 8 years at KÀ, she has had many opportunities to work in all specialized fields; Television, Film, Print, Special Events, and National Marketing Events, stretching from L.A. to NYC. Kelsey has assisted in two Cirque du Soleil creations, Viva! Elvis (Wig Technician) and Michael Jackson “One” (Makeup Technician). Hair Stylist and Makeup Assistant for Cirque du Soleil in Partnership with Google Chrome: Movi.Kanti.Revo. Assistant Wig and Makeup Designer for Gladius "formally known as a Valitar" 7 years as Co-Director of Hair and Makeup, Circus Couture in partnership with Children’s Specialty Center of Nevada. Even though her spare time is limited, Kelsey enjoys working with her husband to build Halloween decorations and props for their annual Husch Haus Halloween party.
